Experimenting with Data and Creativity 🌈 | August 7, 2025

This Week’s Highlight

We kicked off the first SPARK Data Mini Challenge this week with Color Inventory — a simple, open-ended prompt to notice and document the colors around you.

I’ve been wanting to try a new format, and this felt like the perfect opportunity. Instead of a step-by-step tutorial, I walked through my concept and creative experiments. It’s been surprisingly energizing to step outside the usual groove.

Still experimenting and always open to feedback. Send it my way if you’ve got thoughts!

What Inspires Me

Speaking of experimenting with formats, I loved this interview with Tina Choi of Doobydobap. Her work is nothing like mine (think ASMR TikToks to Netflix-level food vlogs), but her reflections on strategy, creativity, and risk really stuck with me.

In this episode, she shares her journey, the shifts she’s made, and the experiments she’s taken big swings on. It’s a great behind-the-scenes look at the evolving life of a creator. Highly recommend.

Data as Play

Data doesn’t have to be dry or intimidating. It can spark curiosity, creativity, and personal insight. This week's Data Mini Challenge was just the start.

Next challenges will engage more senses and turn everyday moments into meaningful data. Start noticing small details: sounds, movements, textures, and patterns you usually miss.

This is about new ways to see and tell stories with data. No rules, just exploration. Stay tuned for what’s next!

Until next week!
