This Week’s Highlight
I tracked my sleep and turned it into… a rainbow donut? 🍩
Okay not exactly. But I did take a month of sleep data and mapped it into a colorful, interactive clock of bedtime arcs. Hover over each slice and you’ll see the exact date, sleep, and wake-up times...because why just track your sleep when you can make it cute?
What Inspires Me
One project I keep coming back to is Dear Data by Giorgia Lupi and Stefanie Posavec. For a year, they tracked small parts of their daily lives and mailed each other hand-drawn postcards of the results.
It wasn’t about precision, it was about noticing. Turning everyday behavior into something visual and personal. It’s a great reminder that data doesn’t have to be serious. It can be messy and creative.
What would you track for a week, just for fun?
Happy Accidents
While working on this week’s tutorial, I ended up remixing the pixel sorting effect and found myself in an unexpected visual direction. It didn’t quite work for me as a data viz... but it looked really cool. Definitely a spark of something I want to come back to.
I love moments like this when one experiment nudges you towards another, even if it’s not what you set out to make. That’s the spirit we’re embracing in SPARK: try things, follow your curiosity, and see where it takes you.
Until next week!
