Truchet Tiles and a Full Month of SPARK✨ | July 2, 2025
This Week’s Highlight
I'm back with my regular scheduling... and this week I played with Truchet tiles, using a simple grid of arcs that creates endless pattern variations. In this version, each tile rotates on hover, bringing the whole sketch to life.
It’s a playful reminder that sometimes, all it takes is a little motion to make things feel alive.
What Inspires Me
A quick shoutout to The Weekly Creative Code Challenge (#WCCChallenge) inside Birb’s Nest Discord community run by Raphaël de Courville (aka @SableRaph).
Each week, the community votes on a theme, shares sketches throughout the week, and on Sundays, Raphaël reviews them live on Twitch. It’s a super fun way to keep your creative juices flowing, stay connected, and explore new ideas.
This week's tutorial was sparked by something I saw there (Truchet Rainbows by Ivan Rudnicki) —so thanks, Birbs!
One Month of SPARK!
It’s been a month since SPARK began, and I’m really proud mostly because I finally got out of my own way and made it happen. What started as an idea is now a space with real people creating, sharing, and showing up. I’ve learned a lot already: what works, what doesn’t, and what feels exciting. It reminds me of my early YouTube days: a little messy, a little scary, but full of possibility.
In the past month, we’ve sketched, hung out live, and watched quirky creatures come to life. One highlight: watching this butterfly unfold week by week in the most thoughtful way.
Until next week!
